Net Roulette - A Simple History
The term "Roulette" is French and in essence it usually means "small wheel". While it may seem that simply because "Roulette" is a French word that the online game itself comes from France, but this is not automatically correct. There are a number of varying hypotheses which range from the game being developed in China, along with ancient Rome. Several who are convinced the game came from China, think that Dominican Monks that were trading with the Chinese brought the roulette back to Europe. A somewhat much more common concept is that the French researcher Blaise Pascal, credited with the probability theory, developed the roulette wheel. Apparently, it was an off-shoot of 1 of his many experiments.
Eventually, in the mid 1800's, the French brothers Louis and Francois Blanc devised the roulette game we know currently. They created the Single Zero edition used by most nations within the world. A story about Francois Blanc, is that he seemingly sold his spirit to Lucifer in order to acquire the key of roulette. Conspiracy-theorists confirm this tale by the fact that all the numbers on a roulette wheel have a sum of "666".
Even though the Blanc brothers' game was a resounding success, wagering was still against the law in France so it was launched in Hamburg instead. Wagering was ultimately prohibited in Germany too, even so, but then The Prince of Monaco invited Louis to run his Monte Carlo gambling house and reintroduce the persons with the casino game of roulette.
When brought over to The usa, the single Zero variation of roulette was forgotten in favour of the double Zero edition of roulette.
